What runs without a key
Fail-closed. One table for trial, paid, expired, refunded, and a license-server outage. A buyer should not have to reconcile marketing, Terms, and the refund page.
How you get here
- OrderRing Lite — free zip from tillpress.com/lite or wordpress.org. No key. No trial. Never phones home.
- Pro zip — currently arrives after checkout (one-year or 1-month). The code includes a 30-day unlicensed runtime window after install. Twilio still bills messages. There is no separate free Pro download; the public Pro zip currently requires paid checkout.
- 1-month license — paid tryout ($9 OrderRing / $10 StoreCanvas / $10 OrderBay), no auto-renew. Remaining days carry over as time credit if you upgrade, not as cash.

Settings, consent, logs, invoice numbers, and artwork stay on your site when Pro pauses. Renewing or buying a new key turns Pro back on. A refunded or expired Pro install does not automatically become Lite — install Lite if you need pickup SMS without a key.
On the zips currently sold, the 30-day unlicensed window starts on the first normal WordPress request after activation. If StoreCanvas shows nothing on a product with live mockup enabled, confirm that the trial or key is active and set a featured image.
Agency, staging, and site transfers
- A single-site license covers one production store. An Agency license covers up to five production stores.
- A staging or localhost copy that does not serve customers is allowed with its related production store under the Terms. If it reaches an activation limit, contact support instead of buying a duplicate by accident.
- For a domain move, deactivate the old site first, then activate the new site. If the old site is unavailable, send the license and both domains to support for a manual reset.
- Purchase email and My account → Downloads are the delivery paths. Keep the original zip. Premium updates and standard support apply during the paid term; Pro feature checks follow the state table above.
- One-time payments do not auto-renew. A yearly subscription is optional and can be cancelled any time in the billing portal. Buying the same product again stacks time on the existing key for the same email/product; unused days carry forward as time, not cash.
What the license check sends
Site URL, instance id, plugin version, license key. Not orders, customers, SMS bodies, artwork, or invoices.
