StoreCanvas setup
Enable the live mockup on one product, give it a base image and a print area, then preview the storefront. High-resolution RGB export (PNG, SVG, flattened PDF — not CMYK) is Pro.
Install and trial
- Upload the zip from your purchase (shop currently serves 1.10.8) and activate. WooCommerce must be active.
- You should see a StoreCanvas admin menu (art icon) and a StoreCanvas tab on each product.
StoreCanvas is paid-only. The designer and print exports require an active key, verified outage grace, or the built-in 30-day unlicensed window. The 30-day window starts on the first normal WordPress request after activation.
Enable on a product
- Edit a simple product (a mug or shirt). Set a featured image — that image is the mockup if a view has no image of its own.
- Open the product data panel → StoreCanvas tab.
- Check Enable live mockup (“Show canvas placement UI on the product page.”).
- Add at least one view with a base image (Add view). The admin status line warns if you have zero views.
- Add at least one print area (Add area). x, y, w, h are percentages (0–100) of the view image. Drag the blue rectangle in the visual editor, or type numbers.
- Update the product. View it on the storefront (not only in the editor preview).
If Enable live mockup is on and the storefront still has no canvas, see Blank product page.
Views and print areas
- Views — Front, back, etc. Each can have its own mockup image.
- Print areas — where artwork may sit. Blue = print area, green = safe margin (validation settings).
- Validation: min DPI, max upload MB, min source pixels, target print width (inches), safe margin %, bleed %, optional require-RGB and strict bleed. StoreCanvas outputs RGB (PDFs flattened RGB, not CMYK/PDF-X). Confirm color with your print provider.
Option fields
The same StoreCanvas tab can add option fields (text, selects, conditionals) that add to the line price. Live price on the product page updates when those fields exist, even without the canvas. Assign global option groups if you reuse fields across products.
What the customer sees
On the product page, above Add to cart: “Customize placement”, view buttons, a canvas, upload / add layer / add text / library, rotate, reset. Artwork must stay in the print area. Placement is stored on the cart line when they add to cart (multipart form). Block themes still use the classic add-to-cart form hook; if a custom template removed that form, use the shortcode on the product.
Print files and queue
RGB PNG, SVG, and flattened-PDF generation and the production queue are Pro (gated without trial/key). Files live on your site. You own them. Nothing is sent to Tillpress besides a license check.
Fancy Product Designer import
The product editor accepts exported FPD product JSON. FPD schemas vary by release, so Tillpress does not certify a version-by-version 1:1 migration. The importer accepts a top-level views array, product.views, or a bare list of view-like objects.
| Data | Importer behavior |
|---|---|
| View title and thumbnail/base image URL | Mapped to a StoreCanvas view; safe public images are sideloaded into WordPress. Blocked, private, invalid, or failed image URLs are skipped. |
| View-level or element-level printing box | Converted from stage coordinates to percentage-based print areas. If dimensions or a print box are missing, a centered 60% default area is used and reported. |
| Text elements | Mapped to optional text fields and deduplicated by label. |
| Image and clip-art elements | Not imported as options. Add upload or clip-art fields manually. |
| Advanced add-ons, pricing rules, transforms, fonts, effects, and other vendor-specific behavior | Not promised. Rebuild and test these manually. |
Partial import reporting: the completion notice reports the number of imported views and text fields plus notes for missing print boxes, skipped image/clip-art elements, or absent views.
Before import: duplicate the product or take a database backup. Import overwrites that product’s StoreCanvas customizer and option-field metadata. There is no automatic undo; restore the duplicate/backup or rebuild the prior settings to roll back.
After import: open the product, check every view, base image, print area, field, price effect, and generated output, then preview and place a test order before selling.
Blank product page
This is the usual “I enabled it and nothing shows” case:
- License state. Confirm the install is inside its 30-day window or has an active key, then reload the product as a customer.
- No mockup image. Featured image empty and view image_id = 0 → grey canvas. Set a featured image or a view image.
- Enable live mockup unchecked after save — confirm the checkbox still saved.
- Zero print areas — admin says “Add a print area so customers can place artwork.”
- Custom product template without
woocommerce_before_add_to_cart_button— add. - Page cache — purge LiteSpeed / your cache plugin after changing the product.
Admin map
- Product → StoreCanvas tab → Enable live mockup, Views, Print areas, visual editor, option fields, clip-art allow-list, validation.
- StoreCanvas menu → Overview, License, saved designs, option groups, library, production queue (Pro).
