Twilio for WooCommerce: Credentials, Webhook, 10DLC

Short version: OrderRing is a WooCommerce plugin that talks to your Twilio account. There is no Tillpress SMS pipe. If Twilio rejects the number or the campaign, the plugin cannot override that.

Create the Twilio bits

1. A Twilio account with billing enabled.
2. An Account SID and Auth Token from the Twilio Console.
3. A sender: a phone number, a short code, or a WhatsApp-enabled sender if you will use WhatsApp (Pro only).

US mobile traffic needs A2P 10DLC (brand + campaign) or a verified toll-free number. Unregistered US SMS is blocked by carriers. That is not an OrderRing bug, and OrderRing does not file the campaign.

Put the credentials in WordPress

Lite: OrderRing Lite settings. Pro: the setup wizard (credentials → test → webhook → consent → auto-notify) or the Settings tab.

• Account SID, Auth Token, From number (E.164).
• Optional wp-config.php constants on Pro: TOC_ACCOUNT_SID, TOC_AUTH_TOKEN, TOC_FROM_NUMBER. Those win over the database.
• Only a site administrator can change SID, token, or From number — in Settings and in the wizard (1.24.0+).

Pro 1.25.0 can list incoming numbers from your Twilio project so you pick a From number instead of typing it. It still cannot create a number for you.

Prove the account, then the webhook

1. Use Test / Send test SMS to your own handset. Pro’s wizard has this on the test step.
2. Copy the inbound SMS webhook URL the plugin shows. Paste it on the number in Twilio (A message comes in). OrderRing verifies the X-Twilio-Signature HMAC. The plugin does not write that URL into Twilio for you — that is still copy-paste (listed on What’s Next).

What OrderRing will and will not send

• Lite: pickup SMS after checkout consent, plus STOP / HELP / START. No key.
• Pro: SMS, voice (TwiML + Amazon Polly through Twilio), WhatsApp on your Twilio WhatsApp sender. Missing WhatsApp sender → a clean error, no Twilio call.
• Pro sending needs the 30-day window, an active key, or grace. Voice calls honour STOP and the SMS consent setting (1.24.0).
• Quiet hours use the WordPress timezone and apply to Ready for Pickup, Shipped, and scheduled reminders. Customer emails on those statuses use wp_mail and ignore quiet hours.

Zero markup. Twilio bills usage. OrderRing’s license check sends license status, site URL, and plugin version — not orders or message bodies.
