OrderRing Pro setup

Voice, SMS, and WhatsApp from WooCommerce on your Twilio account. Setup wizard: credentials → test → webhook → consent → auto-notify.

Install and trial

  1. Download the zip from your purchase email or My account → Downloads (shop currently serves 1.25.1).
  2. Plugins → Upload → Activate.
  3. Open OrderRing in the admin menu. A notice offers the setup wizard (also under the Setup tab).

Pro sending (SMS, voice, WhatsApp, auto-notify) runs for 30 days without a key, then needs an active license. Settings, consent, and history stay if the key lapses. OrderRing Lite pickup SMS stays free with no key.

The 30-day window starts on the first normal WordPress request after activation.

Setup wizard

The first-run wizard is: credentials → test → webhook → consent → auto notify.

  1. Credentials. Account SID, Auth Token, From number (E.164). Optional wp-config: TOC_ACCOUNT_SID, TOC_AUTH_TOKEN, TOC_FROM_NUMBER.
  2. Test. Verifies SID + token with Twilio and checks the built-in TwiML endpoint.
  3. Webhook. Paste the inbound URL into Twilio so STOP/HELP/START and replies hit the order chat. Twilio signs the request; OrderRing verifies the signature.
  4. Consent. Checkout checkbox (classic + block checkout). Default copy explains transactional SMS/voice via Twilio, STOP, HELP, and that consent is not a condition of purchase.
  5. Auto notify. Ready for Pickup and Shipped are triggered by order status, not shipping method. Voice defaults on for Ready for Pickup; SMS for that status is off until you enable it. Optional Local Pickup filter is off by default.

Mark a test order Ready for Pickup. Check the order notes if SMS is skipped (consent, quiet hours, opted-out number, both channels off).

SMS, voice, WhatsApp

  • SMS — Twilio Messages API, your From number.
  • Voice — TwiML + Amazon Polly voices through Twilio. SMS consent is not required for voice.
  • WhatsApp — your own Twilio WhatsApp sender. If the sender is missing, OrderRing returns a clean error and does not call Twilio.

You pay Twilio. Zero markup. OrderRing does not file A2P 10DLC or WhatsApp sender approval.

Ready for Pickup and Shipped

  • Map which Woo statuses mean Ready for Pickup and Shipped (defaults: statuses OrderRing registers).
  • Per-status toggles: enable, voice, SMS.
  • Each kind notifies once (meta _toc_notified_ready_for_pickup_at / _toc_notified_shipped_at). Clear the meta to re-send.
  • An order can get Ready for Pickup first and Shipped later.
  • Optional customer email on those statuses uses wp_mail, is not license-gated, and ignores quiet hours.

Two-way chat and keywords

Inbound SMS appears on the order. STOP opts the number out; START re-opts; HELP replies with help text. Opt-out is checked before send. Bulk Reminders target orders still in Ready for Pickup and use the Reminder template.

Quiet hours and reminders

Quiet hours use the WordPress timezone. Overnight windows (21:00–08:00) are supported. Deferred with Action Scheduler when available. Applies to Ready for Pickup, Shipped, and scheduled pickup reminders. Scheduled reminders: one job per order, cancelled if the order leaves Ready for Pickup. That reminder path is not license-gated.

Roles

Which roles can send and view messages is on the settings screen. Only administrators can change the Twilio Auth Token; other roles keep the previous value.

License

After 30 days, Pro sending needs a key from checkout. Activate on OrderRing → License. The plugin checks the license host; it does not send orders or customers. Stacking: buying a one-month license then a one-year license on the same email+product extends the existing key.

OrderRing Lite may stay installed; it idles while Pro is active.

Troubleshooting

Gated / “license is not active”

Confirm the install is still inside its 30-day window, or activate a key. Lite still sends pickup SMS with no key.

No auto SMS on pickup

SMS for Ready for Pickup defaults off. Enable SMS on that status. Confirm consent, quiet hours, and Local Pickup filter.

US delivery failures

A2P 10DLC or verified toll-free in Twilio Console — not an OrderRing setting.
