Personalized Products in WooCommerce with StoreCanvas

Short version: WooCommerce has no live product designer. StoreCanvas adds one on your site: the customer places text and images on a mockup, you download PNG, SVG, and a flattened RGB PDF from the order. 0% commission. Nothing is rendered on a Tillpress server.

What you need

• WordPress 6.2+, WooCommerce 7.0+, PHP 7.4+, GD for PDF flattening.
• A StoreCanvas 1.10.7 zip from checkout (the shop SKU). Designer canvas and print exports need the 30-day unlicensed window, an active key, or grace. The clock starts on the first normal WordPress request after activation.
• A simple product with a featured image (mug, shirt). That image is the mockup if a view has no image of its own.

Enable the live mockup on one product

1. Plugins → Upload the zip → Activate. WooCommerce must already be active. You should see a StoreCanvas admin menu and a StoreCanvas tab on each product.
2. Edit the product → StoreCanvas tab → check Enable live mockup.
3. Add at least one view with a base image, then at least one print area (percentages 0–100 of the view). Drag the blue rectangle or type numbers.
4. Update, then view the product on the storefront — not only in the editor. If the canvas is missing, the trial/key may be inactive, or the view has no base image (that looks empty).

Block themes still use the classic add-to-cart form hook. If a custom template removed that form, put on the product.

What the customer does

Above Add to cart: Customize placement, view buttons, upload / add layer / add text, rotate, reset. Artwork has to stay in the print area. Placement is stored on the cart line.

The same tab can add option fields (text, selects, conditionals) that change the line price. Those fields update live price even without the canvas. That is also how StoreCanvas Lite is meant to work, once it has a wordpress.org listing — no canvas, no PNG/SVG/PDF.

Print files (Pro)

• PNG with a pHYs DPI chunk (default 300).
• SVG at physical millimetre size with bleed guides.
• Flattened RGB PDF with TrimBox and BleedBox. Not CMYK, not PDF/X, not vector text.
• Optional Action Scheduler background export (off by default) so large files do not hit PHP timeouts.
• Files live on your site. You own them. License checks do not send orders or artwork.

Fancy Product Designer import

The product editor accepts exported FPD product JSON. Schemas vary by FPD release; Tillpress does not certify a version-by-version 1:1 migration. Safe public images are sideloaded; blocked or failed URLs are skipped.
